Literacy is a superpower of culture organisations.

Public Libraries New Zealand (PLNZ) acknowledge this and made the theme of their strategic framework Literacy for all, for life. They believe that: “In a world overloaded with information, spotting fake from fact is vitally important for decision making. Having access to trusted and reliable information is mission-critical”.

By changing the narrative from their traditional role of books and reading to literacy and life-long learning, they aim to change how society perceives libraries. They want to highlight the social and economic impacts that public libraries make to communities, and to offer services and tools to support these aims.
