Seeing through data

As part of her research of what she calls data humanism, information designer Giorgia Lupi ran a workshop at New York's MoMA.

Data humanism seeks to "question the impersonality of a merely technical approach to data, and to reconnect numbers to what they really stand for: our lives."

The workshop took participants on a journey to record observing an exhibition with small and subjective data. Then, taking that data and using it as creative material, participants needed to find their own story, using data as the guiding material to build their own personal, unique experience.

The approach inspired close, slow observation of works of art and other parts of the museum

An innovative approach to engaging an audience by offering a new way into information design and viewing works of art.
